In every generation some of your descendants will die a violent death because you have disobeyed me and have taken Uriah's wife.

So David sent messengers to get her. She came to him and they had sexual intercourse. She had just cleansed herself after her monthly period. Then she went home.

I will require your lifeblood as an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. I will demand an accounting from each man for the life of his fellow man.

Do not murder.

Any who sin deliberately, natives or foreigners, are guilty of treating Jehovah with contempt. They shall be put to death.

Why then did you not obey the voice of Jehovah? Why did you pounce on the plunder? Why did you do evil in the sight of Jehovah?

You will go up in flames like straw and hay! You have rejected the law of the holy God Jehovah the All-Powerful Holy One of Israel. Now your roots will rot, and your blossoms will turn to dust.

Jehovah continued: I will not withdraw punishment for the many transgressions of Judah. For they have rejected the Law of Jehovah! They have not kept his statutes. Their lies have led them astray, those after which their fathers walked.

He that despised Moses' Law died without mercy under two or three witnesses.

He burned his son as a sacrifice in the valley of Ben Hinnom, he consulted fortunetellers, and he cast evil spells. He also practiced witchcraft, and appointed royal mediums and psychics. He did many things that made Jehovah furious.

I have sinned against you, especially you. I have done what you consider evil in your sight. So you hand down justice when you speak, and you are blameless when you judge.

You set our sins in front of you. You put our secret sins in the light of your presence.

([Psalm of David]) O Jehovah, you have searched me and you know me.

If that nation does what I consider evil and does not obey me I will change my mind about the good that I promised to do to it.

The letter said: Put Uriah on the front line where the fighting is the worst. Pull the troops back from him, so that he will be wounded and die.
