Ahithophel's Advice

13 If he retreats into a city, all Israel will bring ropes to that city and drag it into a valley. Not even a pebble will be found there. 14 Then Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” For the Lord had ordained to thwart the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring calamity on Absalom. 15 Hushai told the priests Zadok and Abiathar: Ahithophel advised Absalom and the leaders of Israel to do one thing.
