Saul balanced the spear in his hand and said: I will give David a blow! I will pin him to the wall. David got away from him twice.

Jonathan told David: My father Saul is seeking to kill you. Please be on guard in the morning, and stay in a secret place and hide yourself.

David fled from the pastures at Ramah. He went to Jonathan and asked: What have I done? What crime am I guilty of? What sin have I committed against your father that he tries to kill me?

David was afraid because Saul had come to kill him at Horesh in the desert of Ziph.

Even if someone pursues you to take your life, your life is wrapped securely in the bundle (purse) (bag) of the living from Jehovah your God (God will keep you safe). He will dispose of the lives of your enemies. They will be hurled like stones from a sling.

But those who try to destroy my life will go into the depths of the earth.

My tongue will also talk about your righteousness all day long. They who want to harm me are disappointed and confounded.

The angel told him: Take the child and his mother and go to Israel. Those who tried to kill the child are dead.

Ahimaaz son of Zadok said: Joab let me run and tell King David that Jehovah rescued him from his enemies.

You, Jehovah, give me victory over my enemies! You subdue nations under me.

Should God avenge his chosen that cry to him day and night, and yet he is longsuffering over them?

They cried with a loud voice, saying: How long, O Lord, holy and true, before you judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?

Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God pronounced judgment for you against her.
