"Strive to get in through the narrow door, for I tell you many will try to get in and not be able,

Do you not know that in a race, though all run, only one man gains the prize? Run so as to win the prize.

Some of them, it is true, are actually preaching Christ from envy and rivalry, others from goodwill;

I labour for that end, striving for it with the divine energy which is a power within me.

You have not had to shed blood yet in the struggle against sin.

For a little while thou hast put him lower than the angels, crowning him with glory and honour,

Blessed is he who endures under trial; for when he has stood the test, he will gain the crown of life which is promised to all who love Him.

Then you will receive the unfading crown of glory, when the chief Shepherd makes his appearance.

Have no fear of what you are to suffer. The devil indeed is going to put some of you in prison, that you may be tested; you will have a distressful ten days. Be faithful, though you have to die for it, and I will give you the crown of Life.

I am coming very soon: hold to what you have, in case your crown is taken from you.
