But they had nothing to say, for they had discussed with one another which of them was to be the greatest.

And Zebedee's two sons, James and John, came up to Him and said, "Teacher, we want you to do for us whatever we ask."

There arose also among them a contention as to which one of them should rank as greatest.

In brotherly love be affectionate to one another, in personal honors put one another to the fore,

Stop acting from motives of selfish strife or petty ambition, but in humility practice treating one another as your superiors.

For as God's trustee a pastor must be above reproach, not stubborn or quick-tempered or addicted to strong drink or pugnacious or addicted to dishonest gain,

So we ought to show hospitality to such men, to prove that we cooperate with them for the truth.

"Whoever welcomes you welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me welcomes Him who sent me.

"Whoever, as a disciple of mine, welcomes one little child like this, welcomes me, and whoever welcomes me, welcomes not merely me but Him who sent me."

Then He said to them, "Whoever welcomes this little child on my account is welcoming me, and whoever welcomes me is welcoming Him who sent me; for the one who is lowliest among you all is really great."
