But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.
But Lot said to them, “Oh no, my lords!
Not so! Go now, the men among you, and serve the Lord, for
that is what you desire.” So they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, “
God forbid it, Lord! This shall never happen to You.”
But the prudent answered, ‘No, there will not be enough for us and you too; go instead to the dealers and buy some for yourselves.’
But his mother answered and said, “No indeed; but
he shall be called John.”
The Lord spoke again to Moses and to Aaron, saying to them,
You are therefore to make a distinction between the clean animal and the unclean, and between the unclean bird and the clean; and you shall not make yourselves detestable by animal or by bird or by anything that creeps on the ground, which I have separated for you as unclean.
But I said, “
Ah, Lord God! Behold, I have never been defiled; for from my youth until now I have never eaten what died of itself or was torn by beasts, nor has any unclean meat ever entered my mouth.”
The priests shall not eat any bird or beast that has
died a natural death or has been torn to pieces.
