When he removed him, he made David their king. He testified about him when he said: I found David the son of Jesse is a man after my own heart. He will do my will.

In time past, even when Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them in. Jehovah your God said to you: You will shepherd my people Israel, and be ruler over my people Israel.

He then said to the whole assembly of Israel: If it seems good to you and if it is the will of Jehovah our God, let us send word far and wide to the rest of our brothers throughout the territories of Israel, and also to the priests and Levites with them in their towns and pasturelands, to come and join us.

He said to them: You are the heads of the Levite families. You and your brothers must perform the ceremonies to make yourselves holy. Then bring the Ark of Jehovah the God of Israel to the place I prepared for it.

So David ruled all Israel. He did what was fair and right for all his people.

He brought him from tending the ewes that had lambs so that David could be the shepherd of the people of Jacob, of Israel, the people who belonged to Jehovah.

Fell

He kneeled down and cried with a loud voice: Jehovah, do not charge this sin against them. After saying this he fell asleep in death.

I will choose one of your sons to be king when you reach the end of your life and are buried in the tomb of your ancestors. I will make him a strong ruler.

David died and was buried in David's City.

More than five hundred brothers saw him at the same time after that. Most of them remain to this day, but some have fallen asleep [in death].

I do not want you to be ignorant brothers, concerning those who are asleep (in death). You do not need to sorrow like others who have no hope.

Men and brothers let me freely speak to you about the patriarch David that he is dead and buried. His grave is with us to this day.

When your days are over and you go to be with your fathers, I will raise up your offspring to succeed you. It will be one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.

Solomon lay down in death with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. His son Rehoboam succeeded him as king.

Rehoboam lay down in death with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David. His son Abijah succeeded him as king.

Jehoshaphat died and was buried in the royal tombs in David's City and his son Jehoram succeeded him as king.

Uzziah lay down in death with his ancestors and was buried with them in a field containing tombs that belonged to the kings. People said: He has a skin disease. His son Jotham succeeded him as king.

And saw

You will eat your food by the sweat of your brow until you return to the ground. You came from the ground. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

If I say to the pit: You are my father! And to the worm: You are my mother and sister!

Even after my skin is gone and this body destroyed, I will see God in my own flesh.

They lie down alike in the dust, and the worms cover them.

so they should live forever and never see the grave (pit) (destruction).

Jesus said: Take away the stone. Martha, the sister of the dead man said: Lord by now the body has decayed for he has been dead four days.

So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption. It is raised in incorruption.
