This suggestion pleased the whole group. So they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a gentile convert to Judaism from Antioch.

Some men joined him and became believers. With them were Dionysius, who was a member of the Areopagus, a woman named Damaris, and some others along with them.

But when some people became stubborn, refused to believe, and slandered the Way in front of the people, Paul left them, taking his disciples away with him, and held daily discussions in the lecture hall of Tyrannus.

The grace

They stayed there a considerable time and continued to speak boldly for the Lord, who kept affirming his word of grace and granting signs and wonders to be done by them.

By his grace they are justified freely through the redemption that is in the Messiah Jesus,

Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace by which we have been established, and we boast because of our hope in God's glory.

But if this is by grace, then it is no longer on the basis of actions. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace.

Those of you who are trying to be justified by the Law have been cut off from the Messiah. You have fallen away from grace.

For by such grace you have been saved through faith. This does not come from you; it is the gift of God

For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation to all people.

Stop being carried away by all kinds of unusual teachings, for it is good that the heart be strengthened by grace, not by food laws that have never helped those who follow them.

Through Silvanus, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written this short letter to encourage you and to testify that this is to be the true grace of God in which you are to stand firm!
