The priest of the temple of Zeus, which stood at the entrance to the town, came with crowds of people to the gates, bringing bulls and garlands; he meant to offer sacrifices to them.

Jesus reproved him, saying, "Hush up, get out of him!"

Now the seventy returned and joyously reported, "Lord, even the demons are submitting to us in your name."

He thus stripped the principalities and dominions of power and made a public display of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
