And I said, Lord, they know that I imprisoned, and beat in every synagogue, those that believed in thee;

and having cast him out of the city, they stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul;

And Saul was consenting to his death. And there arose on that day a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and all were scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.

But Saul, yet breathing out threatening and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

I indeed thought with myself that I ought to do many things in opposition to the name of Jesus the Nazarene.

For I am the least of the apostles, one not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

as to zeal, persecuting the church; as to the righteousness which is in the Law, blameless.

though formerly I was a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and a doer of outrage; but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly, in unbelief;

This woman followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, who announce to you the way of salvation.

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue. But Aquila and Priscilla having heard him, took him to them, and set forth to him the way [of the Lord] more fully.

But when some were hardened, and believed not, but spoke evil of the way [of the Lord] before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, discoursing daily in the school of Tyrannus.

But this I acknowledge to thee, that according to the way [of belief] which they call a sect, so do I worship the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the Law and by the Prophets;
