And he beckoned unto them with the hand to hold their peace, and told them by what means the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, "Go show these things unto James and to the brethren." And he departed and went into another place.

Then Paul stood up and beckoned with the hand and said, "Men of Israel, and ye that fear God, give audience.

Some of the company drew forth Alexander, the Jews thrusting him forwards. Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have given the people an answer.

When he had given him licence, Paul stood on the steps, and beckoned with the hand unto the people, and there was made a great silence. And he spake unto them in the Hebrew tongue, saying:

Agrippa said unto Paul, "Thou art permitted to speak for thyself." Then Paul stretched forth the hand, and answered for himself,

but if it be a question of words, or of names, or of your law, look ye to it yourselves. For I will be no judge in such matters."
