But motioning to them with his hand to be silent, he described to them how the Lord had led him out of the prison. And he said, “Report these things to

Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said,“Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen:

Some of the crowd concluded it was Alexander, since the Jews had put him forward; and having motioned with his hand, Alexander was intending to make a defense to the assembly.

When he had given him permission, Paul, standing on the stairs, motioned to the people with his hand; and when there was a great hush, he spoke to them in the

Hebrew dialect, saying,

Agrippa said to Paul, “You are permitted to speak for yourself.” Then Paul stretched out his hand and proceeded to make his defense:

but if there are questions about words and names and your own law, look after it yourselves; I am unwilling to be a judge of these matters.”

If one man sins against another, God will mediate for him; but if a man sins against the Lord, who can intercede for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, for the Lord desired to put them to death.
