Now after these things were ended, Paul resolved in his spirit to travel through Macedonia and Achaia on his way to Jerusalem. "After I get there," he said, "I must see Rome, too."

And the following night the Lord stood by him and said: "Be of good courage; for as you have borne faithful witness concerning me at Jerusalem, so you must testify at Rome also."

Then Festus, after conferring with the council, answered. "You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you shall go."

This is why I have been so hindered from coming to you.

Now there was at Caesarea a man named Cornelius, a captain in the Italian regiment.

Here he found a certain Jew named Aquila, a native of Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife, Priscilla, because Claudius had ordered all Jews to leave Rome.
