1 After we had been rescued, we learned that the island was called Malta.

21 They answered him, "We have not received any letters from Judea about you, and not one of our Jewish brothers has come and reported or stated anything wicked about you.

21 And they said unto him, We neither received letters out of Judaea concerning thee, neither any of the brethren that came shewed or spake any harm of thee.
21 Then they said to him, “We haven’t received any letters about you from Judea. None of the brothers has come and reported or spoken anything evil about you.
21 The Jewish leaders told him, "We haven't received any letters from Judea about you, and none of the brothers coming here has reported or mentioned anything bad about you.
22 But we think it fitting to let you tell us what your views are, for as to this sect it is known by all of us that it is everywhere denounced."
22 But we desire to hear from you what (r)your views are; for concerning this (AA)sect, it is known to us that (AB)it is spoken against everywhere.”
22 But we desire to hear of thee what thou thinkest: for as concerning this sect, we know that every where it is spoken against.

23 So they set a day for him, and came in large numbers to see him at the place where he was lodging, and from morning till night he continued to explain to them the kingdom of God, at the same time giving them his own testimony and trying from the law of Moses and the prophets to convince them about Jesus.
23 When they had set a day for Paul, they came to him at (AC)his lodging in large numbers; and he was explaining to them by solemnly (AD)testifying about the kingdom of God and trying to persuade them concerning Jesus, (AE)from both the Law of Moses and from the Prophets, from morning until evening.

23 So they set a day to meet with Paul and came out in large numbers to see him where he was staying.
24 Some of them were convinced by what he said, but others would not believe.
24 And some believed the things which were spoken, and some believed not.
24 From morning until evening, he continued to explain the kingdom of God to them, trying to convince them about Jesus from the Law of Moses and the Prophets. Some of them were convinced by what he said, but others wouldn't believe.
25 Because they could not agree among themselves, they started to leave, when Paul had spoken one word more: "The Holy Spirit beautifully expressed it in speaking to your forefathers through the prophet Isaiah:
25 And when they did not agree with one another, they began leaving after Paul had spoken one parting word, “The Holy Spirit rightly spoke through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers,
25 And when they agreed not among themselves, they departed, after that Paul had spoken one word, Well spake the Holy Ghost by Esaias the prophet unto our fathers,
25 Disagreeing among themselves, they began to leave after Paul made one statement: “The Holy Spirit correctly spoke through the prophet Isaiah to your(g) ancestors
25 They disagreed with one another as they were leaving, so Paul added this statement: "The Holy Spirit was so right when he spoke to your ancestors through the prophet Isaiah!
26 'Go to this people and say to them, "You will listen, and listen, and never understand, and you will look, and look, and never see!
26 saying,‘(AG)Go to this people and say,“(s)(AH)You will keep on hearing, (t)but will not understand;And (u)you will keep on seeing, but will not perceive;
26 Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
26 when He said,Go to these people and say:You will listen and listen,yet never understand;and you will look and look,yet never perceive.
26 He said, "Go to this people and say, "You will listen and listen but never understand, and you will look and look but never see!
27 For this people's soul has grown dull, and they scarcely hear with their ears, and they have shut tight their eyes, so that they may never see with their eyes, and understand with their souls, and turn to me, that I may cure them."'
27 (AI)For the heart of this people has become dull,And with their ears they scarcely hear,And they have closed their eyes;Otherwise they might see with their eyes,And hear with their ears,And understand with their heart and return,And I would heal them.”’
27 For the heart of this people is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes have they closed; lest they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
27 For the hearts of these peoplehave grown callous,their ears are hard of hearing,and they have shut their eyes;otherwise they might see with their eyesand hear with their ears,understand with their heart,and be converted,and I would heal them.(Q)(h)
27 For this people's minds have become stupid, and their ears can barely hear, and they have shut their eyes so that they may never see with their eyes, and listen with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn and let me heal them."'
28 "So you must understand that this message of God's salvation has been sent to the heathen; and they will listen to it!"
28 Therefore let it be known to you that (AJ)this salvation of God has been sent (AK)to the Gentiles; they will also listen.”
28 Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.
28 Therefore, let it be known to you that this saving work of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen!”(R)

29 And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.

29 For two whole years Paul lived in his own rented place and welcomed everyone who came to him.
30 So Paul for two whole years lived in a rented house of his own; he continued to welcome everybody who came to see him;
