The covenant

Then God said to Abraham: As for you, you must keep my covenant, you and your descendants after you for the generations to come.

Moses gave you circumcision. Not that it is of Moses, but of the fathers. And you circumcise a man on the Sabbath.

How then was it counted? When he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision:

Brothers, I speak like a man speaks: Though it is only a man's covenant, yet when it has been confirmed, no one makes it void, or adds to it.

And so

For the generations to come every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised. This includes those born in your household or bought with money from a foreigner, those who are not your offspring.

Jehovah was gracious to Sarah, as he had said. Jehovah did for Sarah what he had promised.

And isaac

Isaac prayed to Jehovah for his wife because she was childless. Jehovah answered his prayer. His wife Rebekah became pregnant.

Abraham was the father of Isaac. The sons of Isaac: Esau and Israel.

Abraham was the father of Isaac, Isaac the father of Jacob, Jacob the father of Judah and his brothers.

The word of promise: According to this time I will come and Sarah will have a son.

And jacob

Jehovah saw that Leah was loved less, so he made it possible for her to have children. But Rachel had none.

Rachel had not borne Jacob any children. As a result, she became jealous of her sister and said to Jacob: Give me children, or I will die.

After that they moved from Bethel. When there was still some distance to go to Ephrath, Rachel went into labor. She had severe labor pains.

Patriarchs

Men and brothers let me freely speak to you about the patriarch David that he is dead and buried. His grave is with us to this day.

See how great he was! Abraham the patriarch gave him a tenth of the spoils.
