Saul heartily approved of his being put to death. So on that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all of them, except the apostles, were scattered over Judea and Samaria.

This suggestion was approved by the whole body, and so they selected Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit, Philip, Procorus, Nikanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicholas of Antioch, who was a convert to Judaism.

The next day we left there and went on to Caesarea, where we went to the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the Seven, and stayed with him.

The city

Jesus sent these twelve out, after giving them the following charge: "Do not go to the heathen, or to any Samaritan town,

Preached

Then Philip opened his mouth, and starting from this passage, he told him the good news about Jesus.

and not for a single day did they stop teaching in the temple square and in private houses the good news of Jesus the Christ.

and at once he began to preach in their synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

So Paul, as he usually did, went to the synagogue, and for three sabbaths discussed with them the Scriptures,

The woman said to Him, "I know that the Messiah is coming, the One who is called the Christ. When He comes, He will tell us everything."

we are preaching the Christ who was crucified -- a message that is a trap-stick to the Jews and nonsense to the Greeks,

for I determined, while among you, to be unconscious of everything but Jesus Christ and Him as crucified.

for no one can lay any other foundation than the one that is laid, that is, Jesus Christ Himself.
