Deuteronomy 20:10

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it.

at your entrance into any house, first say, prosperity be to this family.

this was what he communicated to the children of Israel, proclaiming salvation by Jesus Christ, who is the Lord of all mankind.

Now this is all owing to God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath made us the ministers of this reconciliation;

Invested then with such a commission, I beseech you let not the offers of divine favour be made to you in vain.

and being come, he preached the glad tidings of peace to YOU who were afar off, and to US that were nigh.
