These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
Upon mount gerizim
All Israel with their elders and officers and their judges were standing on both sides of the ark before the Levitical priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord, the stranger as well as the native. Half of them stood in front of Mount Gerizim and half of them in front of Mount Ebal, just as Moses the servant of the Lord had given command at first to bless the people of Israel.
Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on the top of
Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and called out. Thus he said to them, “Listen to me, O men of Shechem, that God may listen to you.
Then she conceived again and bore a son and said, “
Because the Lord has heard that I am unloved, He has therefore given me this son also.” So she named him Simeon.
Then Leah said, “God has given me my
wages because I gave my maid to my husband.” So she named him Issachar.
It came about as her soul was departing (for she died), that she named him
Ben-oni; but his father called him Benjamin.
Judah became His sanctuary,
