Curse not the king, no not in thy thought; and curse not the rich in thy bedchamber: for a bird of the air shall carry the voice, and that which hath wings shall tell the matter.
“You must not blaspheme God
or curse a leader among your people.
They will wander through the land, dejected and hungry. When they are famished, they will become enraged, and, looking upward, will curse their king and their God.
“I did not know, brothers, that he was the high priest,” replied Paul. “For it is written, You must not speak evil of a ruler of your people.”
Don’t pay attention
to everything people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you,
“I tell you, if they were to keep silent, the stones would cry out!”
