And they said unto Moses, Because there were no graves in Egypt, hast thou taken us away to die in the wilderness? wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us forth out of Egypt?
When they came to
Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter; therefore it was named Marah.

grumbled against Moses and Aaron in the wilderness.
Therefore the people
quarreled with Moses and said, “Give us water that we may drink.” And Moses said to them, “ Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test the Lord?”
Now the people became like
those who complain of adversity in the hearing of the Lord; and when the Lord heard it, His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp.
Then all the congregation
lifted up their voices and cried, and the people wept that night.
But on the next day all the congregation of the sons of Israel
grumbled against Moses and Aaron, saying, “You are the ones who have caused the death of the Lord’s people.”

did not remember Your abundant kindnesses,

Then Moses returned to the Lord and said, “
O Lord, why have You brought harm to this people? Why did You ever send me?
Then Israel said, “Why did you treat me so badly
by telling the man whether you still had another brother?”
So if You are going to deal thus with me, please kill me at once, if I have found favor in Your sight, and do not let me see my wretchedness.”
