Now Moses was pasturing the flock of
Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the west side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.
Then Jethro, Moses’ father-in-law, came with his sons and his wife to Moses
in the wilderness where he was camped, at the mount of God.
“After forty years had passed,
an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai, in the flame of a burning thorn bush.
This is allegorically speaking, for these women are two covenants: one proceeding from Mount Sinai bearing children who are to be slaves; she is Hagar.
They journeyed from Rephidim and camped in
the wilderness of Sinai.
