Judgment On Evil Rulers
1 Moreover the Spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the east gate of the LORD's house, which looks eastward: and see, at the door of the gate twenty-five men; and I saw in their midst Jaazaniah the son of Azzur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, officials of the people.
1 Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.
1 Moreover, the (A)Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east gate of the Lord’s house which faced eastward. And behold, there were twenty-five men at the entrance of the gate, and among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and (B)Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
1 The Spirit then lifted me up(A) and brought me to the eastern gate of the Lord’s house, which faces east, and at the gate’s entrance were 25 men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people.
1 The Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the east facing gate of the LORD's Temple. At the entrance of the gate I saw 25 men. Included among them were Azzur's son Jaazaniah and Benaiah's son Pelatiah, who were princes of the people.
2 He said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity, and who give wicked counsel in this city;
2 Then said he unto me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked counsel in this city:
2 He said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who devise iniquity and (C)give evil advice in this city,
2 The Lord said to me, “Son of man, these are the men who plan evil(B) and give wicked advice in this city.
2 Then he told me, "Son of Man, these men are plotting evil and are giving wicked advice in this city.
3 who say, 'The time is not near to build houses: this is the caldron, and we are the meat.'
3 Which say, It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron, and we be the flesh.
3 They are saying, ‘Isn’t the time near to build houses?(a)(C) The city is the pot,(D) and we are the meat.’
3 They keep saying, "The right time to build families hasn't yet arrived. The city is the pot and we are the meat.'
5 The Spirit of the LORD fell on me, and he said to me, "Speak, Thus says the LORD: 'Thus you have said, house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.
5 And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them.
5 Then the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and He said to me, “Say, ‘Thus says the Lord, “So you think, house of Israel, for (F)I know (b)your (G)thoughts.
5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and He told me, “You are to say: This is what the Lord says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind.(E)
5 Just then the Spirit of the LORD took control of me and told me, "You are to say, "This is what the LORD says: "You've said, O house of Israel, that I know what goes through your mind.
6 You have multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled its streets with the slain.'
6 Ye have multiplied your slain in this city, and ye have filled the streets thereof with the slain.
6 You've increased the number of fatally wounded in this city and you've filled your streets with the dead."
7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Your slain whom you have laid in its midst, they are the meat, and this is the caldron; but you shall be brought out of its midst.
7 Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Your slain whom ye have laid in the midst of it, they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
7 Therefore, thus says the Lord (d)God, “Your (I)slain whom you have laid in the midst of (e)the city are the flesh and this city is the pot; but (f)I will (J)bring you out of it.
7 “Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: The slain you have put within it are the meat,(G) and the city is the pot, but I(b) will remove you from it.(H)
7 "Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says, "The corpses that you've laid out in your midst are the meat, and this city is the cooking pot. But you'll be taken out from the middle of it.
8 You have feared the sword; and I will bring the sword on you,' says the Lord GOD.
8 Ye have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, saith the Lord GOD.
8 You fear the sword,(I) so I will bring the sword against you.”(J) This is the declaration of the Lord God.
8 You've feared the sword, but I'm bringing violent death in your direction," declares the Lord GOD.
9 'I will bring you forth out of its midst, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
9 And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and will execute judgments among you.
9 “And I will bring you out of the midst of (g)the city and deliver you into the hands of (M)strangers and (N)execute judgments against you.
9 “I will bring you out of the city and hand you over to foreigners; I will execute judgments against you.(K)
9 "I'm bringing you out from the middle of it and I'm going to deliver you into the hands of strangers, because I'm going to carry out my sentence against you.
10 You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and you shall know that I am the LORD.
10 Ye shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the border of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
10 You will (O)fall by the sword. I will judge you to the (P)border of Israel; so you shall know that I am the Lord.
10 You will fall by the sword,(L) and I will judge you at the border of Israel.(M) Then you will know that I am Yahweh.
10 You're going to die violently, and I'll judge you as far as the borders of Israel. Then you'll learn that I am the LORD.
11 This shall not be your caldron, neither shall you be the meat in its midst; I will judge you in the border of Israel;
11 This city shall not be your caldron, neither shall ye be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of Israel:
11 This city will (Q)not be a pot for you, nor will you be flesh in the midst of it, but I will judge you to the border of Israel.
11 The city will not be a pot for you,(N) and you will not be the meat within it. I will judge you at the border of Israel,
11 This city won't be your cooking pot and neither will you be the meat in it, because I'm going to judge you as far as the borders of Israel.
12 and you shall know that I am the LORD: for you have not walked in my statutes, neither have you executed my ordinances, but have done after the ordinances of the nations that are around you.'"
12 And ye shall know that I am the LORD: for ye have not walked in my statutes, neither executed my judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are round about you.
12 Thus you will know that I am the Lord; for you have not walked in My statutes nor have you (R)executed My ordinances, but have acted according to the ordinances of the (S)nations around you.”’”
12 so you will know that I am Yahweh, whose statutes you have not followed and whose ordinances you have not practiced. Instead, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you.”(O)
12 Then you'll learn that I am the LORD, because you didn't live by my statues or obey my ordinances. Instead, you obeyed the ordinances of the nations around you."'"
13 It happened, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down on my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, "Ah Lord GOD. Will you make a full end of the remnant of Israel?"
13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah the son of Benaiah died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah Lord GOD! wilt thou make a full end of the remnant of Israel?
13 Now it came about as I prophesied, that (T)Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell on my face and cried out with a loud voice and said, “(U)Alas, Lord God! Will You bring the remnant of Israel to a complete end?”
13 Now while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died.(P) Then I fell facedown and cried out with a loud voice: “Oh, Lord God!(Q) Will You bring to an end the remnant of Israel?”
13 While I was prophesying, Benaiah's son Pelatiah died, so I fell on my face and cried out with a loud voice. "Ah, Lord GOD," I said, "are you going to put an end to the survivors within Israel?"
Promise Of Israel's Restoration
15 "Son of man, your brothers, even your brothers, the men of your relatives, and all the house of Israel, all of them, to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, 'Go far away from the LORD. This land has been given to us for a possession.'
15 Son of man, thy brethren, even thy brethren, the men of thy kindred, and all the house of Israel wholly, are they unto whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, Get you far from the LORD: unto us is this land given in possession.
15 “Son of man, your brothers, your (h)relatives, (i)your fellow exiles and the whole house of Israel, all of them, are those to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, ‘Go far from the Lord; this land has been given (V)us as a possession.’
15 “Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem you,(c)(d) and the entire house of Israel, all of them, are those that the residents of Jerusalem have said this to, ‘Stay away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession.’
15 "Son of Man, your brothers, your other relatives, your fellow exiles, and the entire house of Israel are the people to whom the inhabitants of Jerusalem have said, "They've abandoned the LORD. This land was given to us for an inheritance.'"
16 Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Whereas I have removed them far off among the nations, and whereas I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them a sanctuary for a little while in the countries where they have come."'
16 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
16 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “Though I had removed them far away among the nations and though I had scattered them among the countries, yet I was a (W)sanctuary for them a little while in the countries where they had gone.”’
16 “Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: Though I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them(R) in the countries where they have gone.
16 "Therefore you are to say, "This is what the Lord GOD says, "Although I've removed them far away to live among the nations, and although I've scattered them throughout the earth, yet I've continued to be their sanctuary, even for the short time that they will be living in the lands to which they've gone."'
17 Therefore say, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "I will gather you from the peoples, and assemble you out of the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel."
17 Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will even gather you from the people, and assemble you out of the countries where ye have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
17 Therefore say, ‘Thus says the Lord God, “I will (X)gather you from the peoples and assemble you out of the countries among which you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.”’
17 “Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: I will gather you from the peoples(S) and assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel.
17 "Therefore you are to say, "This is what the Lord GOD says, "I'm going to gather you from among the nations, assembling you from the lands among which you have been dispersed. I'll give you the land of Israel.
18 They shall come there, and they shall take away all the detestable things of it and all its abominations from there.
18 And they shall come thither, and they shall take away all the detestable things thereof and all the abominations thereof from thence.
18 When they come there, they will (Y)remove all its (Z)detestable things and all its abominations from it.
18 When they return from there and cast away all of their loathsome things and detestable practices,
19 I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them a heart of flesh;
19 And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
19 And I will (AA)give them one heart, and put a new spirit within (j)them. And I will take the (AB)heart of stone out of their flesh and give them a (AC)heart of flesh,
19 And I will give them one heart(V) and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone(W) from their bodies(e) and give them a heart of flesh,(X)
19 then I'll give them a united heart, placing a new spirit within them. I'll remove their stubborn heart and give them a heart that's sensitive to me.
20 that they may walk in my statutes, and keep my ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
20 That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.
20 that they may (AD)walk in My statutes and keep My ordinances and do them. Then they will be (AE)My people, and I shall be their God.
20 so they may follow My statutes,(Y) keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God.(Z)
20 When they live by my statutes and keep my ordinances by observing them, then they'll be my people and I will be their God.
21 But as for them whose heart walks after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will bring their way on their own heads,' says the Lord GOD."
21 But as for them whose heart walketh after the heart of their detestable things and their abominations, I will recompense their way upon their own heads, saith the Lord GOD.
21 (k)But as for those whose hearts go after their (AF)detestable things and abominations, I will (AG)bring their conduct down on their heads,” declares the Lord God.
21 But as for those whose hearts pursue their desire for detestable things and practices, I will bring their actions down on their own heads.”(AA) This is the declaration of the Lord God.
21 But to those whose hearts delight in loathsome things and detestable practices, I'll bring the consequences of their behavior crashing down on their own heads," declares the Lord GOD.'"
