The Call Of Ezekiel To Speak God's Words
2 And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me.
2 As He spoke to me, the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet,(B) and I listened to the One who was speaking to me.
2 Even while he was speaking to me, the Spirit entered me, set me on my feet, and I listened to the voice that had been speaking to me.
2 Then as He spoke to me the Spirit entered me and set me on my feet; and I heard Him speaking to me.
3 And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, even unto this very day.
3 Then He said to me, “Son of man, I am sending you to the sons of Israel, to a rebellious people who have (C)rebelled against Me; (D)they and their fathers have transgressed against Me to this very day.
3 He said to me: “Son of man, I am sending you to the Israelites, to(a) the rebellious pagans(b) who have rebelled against Me. The Israelites and their ancestors have transgressed against Me to this day.(C)
3 "Son of Man, I'm sending you to that rebellious people, the Israelis, who have rebelled against me the same way their ancestors did. And they're still rebels to this very day!
3 And He said to me, “I am sending you, son of man, to the children of Israel, to a rebellious people [in both the north and the south] that have rebelled against Me; they and their fathers have sinned and revolted against Me to this very day.
4 For they are impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD.
4 I am sending you to them who are (a)(E)stubborn and obstinate children, and you shall say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord (b)God.’
4 The children are obstinate(c) and hardhearted.(D) I am sending you to them, and you must say to them, ‘This is what the Lord God says.’
4 They're stubborn and strong willed. I'm sending you to them to tell them what the LORD says.
5 And they, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear, (for they are a rebellious house,) yet shall know that there hath been a prophet among them.
5 As for them, (F)whether they listen or (c)not—for they are a rebellious house—they will (G)know that a prophet has been among them.
5 Whether they listen or refuse to listen(E)—for they are a rebellious house—they will know that a prophet has been among them.(F)
5 Whether this rebellious group listens to you or not, at least they'll realize that a prophet had appeared in their midst!
5 As for them, whether they listen or refuse [to listen]—for they are a rebellious house—yet they will know and be fully aware of the fact that there has been a prophet among them.
6 And thou, son of man, be not afraid of them, neither be afraid of their words, though briers and thorns be with thee, and thou dost dwell among scorpions: be not afraid of their words, nor be dismayed at their looks, though they be a rebellious house.
6 And you, son of man, (H)neither fear them nor fear their words, though (I)thistles and thorns are with you and you sit on scorpions; neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house.
6 “But you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words,(G) though briers and thorns are beside you and you live among scorpions.(H) Don’t be afraid of their words or be discouraged by the look on their faces, for they are a rebellious house.
6 "Now as for you, Son of Man, never be afraid of them or of anything they have to say, because being with them will be like settling down to live among briers, thorn bushes, and scorpions! Don't be afraid of anything they have to say, and don't be awed by their appearance, since they are a rebellious group.
6 And you, son of man, neither fear them nor fear their words; though briars and thorns are all around you and you sit among scorpions, neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their presence, for they are a rebellious house.
7 And thou shalt speak my words unto them, whether they will hear, or whether they will forbear: for they are most rebellious.
7 But you shall (J)speak My words to them (K)whether they listen or (d)not, for they are rebellious.
7 You are to tell them whatever I have to say to them, whether they listen or not, since they are rebellious."
7 But you shall speak My words to them whether they will listen or refuse [to listen], for they are [most] rebellious.
8 But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee.
8 “Now you, son of man, listen to what I am speaking to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and (L)eat what I am giving you.”
8 “And you, son of man, listen to what I tell you: Do not be rebellious like that rebellious house. Open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.”(J)
8 "Son of Man, you are to listen to what I tell you. You are never to be rebellious like they are: a rebellious group. Now, open your mouth and eat what I'm giving you""
8 “As for you, son of man, listen to what I say to you; do not be rebellious like that rebellious house; open your mouth and eat what I am giving you.”
9 And when I looked, behold, an hand was sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book was therein;
9 As I watched, all of a sudden there was a hand being stretched out in my direction! And there was a scroll
9 Then I looked, and I saw a hand stretched out toward me; and behold, a scroll of a book was in it.
10 And he spread it before me; and it was written within and without: and there was written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe.
10 When He spread it out before me, it was written on the front and back, and written on it were lamentations, mourning and (O)woe.
10 When He unrolled it before me, it was written on the front and back; words of lamentation, mourning, and woe were written on it.
10 being unrolled right in front of me! Written on both sides were lamentations, mourning, and cries of grief.
10 And He spread it before me, and it was written on the front and on the back, and written on it were [words of] lamentation (funeral songs) and mourning and woe.
