But I wrought for my name's sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, before whose sight I had brought them out.
But I had
concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations where they went.
holy name I will make known in the midst of My people Israel; and I will not let My holy name be profaned anymore. And the nations will know that I am the Lord, the Holy One in Israel.
the Egyptians speak, saying, ‘With evil intent He brought them out to kill them in the mountains and to destroy them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your burning anger and change Your mind about doing harm to Your people.
But Moses said to the Lord, “Then the Egyptians will hear of it, for by Your strength You brought up this people from their midst,
Otherwise the land from which You brought us may say, “
Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which He had promised them and because He hated them He has brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.”
‘I would have said, “ I will cut them to pieces, I will remove the memory of them from men,”
For the Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land will hear of it, and they will surround us and cut off our name from the earth. And what will You do for Your great name?”
1 Samuel 12:22
the Lord will not abandon His people on account of His great name, because the Lord has been pleased to make you a people for Himself.
