Descendants Of Solomon's Servants

⁵⁷ the descendants of Shephatiah, the descendants of Hattil, the descendants of Pokereth-Hazzebaim, and the descendants of Ami. ⁵⁸ All the temple servants and the descendants of the servants of Solomon: 392. ⁵⁹ These are the ones that came up from Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon, and Immer (although they were unable to certify their family connection or their ancestry, as to whether they really were from Israel):

1 Kings 9:21

Their descendants remained in the land (the Israelites were unable to wipe them out completely). Solomon conscripted them for his work crews, and they continue in that role to this very day.

1 Chronicles 9:2

The first to resettle on their property and in their cities were some Israelites, priests, Levites, and temple servants.

Joshua 9:21

The leaders then added, "Let them live." So they became woodcutters and water carriers for the whole community, as the leaders had decided.

Joshua 9:23

Now you are condemned to perpetual servitude as woodcutters and water carriers for the house of my God."

and that day made them woodcutters and water carriers for the community and for the altar of the Lord at the divinely chosen site. (They continue in that capacity to this very day.)
