Then Abraham answered and said: Indeed now, I who am only dust and ashes have taken it upon myself to speak to Jehovah:

David went into the tent he set up for the ark. Then he sat there and prayed: Jehovah All-Powerful, my family and I do not deserve what you have already done for us.

My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.

I said to Jehovah: You are Jehovah my God. Without you, I have nothing good.

Woe to me! I cried. I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips (a sinner) and I live among a people of unclean (filthy) lips (speech) (language). My eyes have seen the King, Jehovah of Hosts.

I will acknowledge Jehovah's acts of loving-kindness, and sing the praises of Jehovah, because of everything that Jehovah has done for us. He has done many good things for the nation of Israel because of his compassion and the abundance of his loving-kindness.

O Jehovah, to us belongs shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because we have sinned against you.

When Simon Peter saw this he fell down at Jesus' knees. He said: Depart from me for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

The same applies to you. When you have done all you have been told to do, you say, we are unworthy servants. We have done what we ought to have done.

I have become a fool in boasting. You have compelled me: for I ought to have been commended about you: for in nothing am I inferior to the most prominent apostles, though I am nothing.

I thank him that enabled me and counted me faithful, appointing me to his service, Christ Jesus our Lord.

Likewise, you younger men, be subject to the older men. Yes, all of you clothe yourselves with humility and serve one another. God resists the proud, but gives loving kindness to the humble.

If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Mercies

He said: Praise Jehovah, the God of my master Abraham. He has faithfully kept his promise to my master. Jehovah has led me straight to my master's relatives.

You made him a little lower than god-like ones (God) (Son of God) (angels). You crowned him with glory and honor. (John 1:18)

My staff

Jacob left Beer-sheba and traveled toward Haran.

Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be.

You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me. Your gentleness (humility) (meekness) makes me great.

Two bands

I own cattle, donkeys, sheep, goats, and slaves. I am sending you word in the hope of gaining your favor.

Remember that Jehovah your God gives you the strength to make a living. That is how he keeps the promise he made to your fathers.

You have given me the shield of your salvation. Your right hand supports me. Your gentleness (humility) (meekness) makes me great.

They grow stronger as they go and they will see the God of gods on Zion.

Yet, the righteous person clings to his way, and the one with clean hands grows stronger.

The path of the righteous is like the shining light of dawn that shines brighter and brighter until the more perfect day.
