Joseph Sold Into Slavery

²⁰ Now, therefore, come! let us slay him and cast him into one of the pits, and we will say A cruel beast, hath devoured him, - And let us see what will become of his dreams. ²¹ And Reuben heard it, and rescued him out of their hand, and said Let us not smite him, so as to take his life! ²² And Reuben said unto them Do not shed blood! Cast him into this pit, which is in the wilderness, but put not forth, a hand, against him! that he might rescue him out of their hand, to restore him unto his father.
