Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, but no one can interpret it; and I have heard it said about you, that when you hear a dream you can interpret it.”

“In a dream, a vision of the night,
When sound sleep falls on men,
While they slumber in their beds,

The

secret of the Lord is for those who fear Him,

And He will make them know His covenant.

When they say to you, “Consult the mediums and the spiritists who whisper and mutter,” should not a people consult their God? Should they consult the dead on behalf of the living?

Moreover, the thing which the king demands is difficult, and there is no one else who could declare it to the king except gods, whose dwelling place is not with mortal flesh.”

But finally Daniel came in before me, whose name is Belteshazzar according to the name of my god, and in whom is

a spirit of the holy gods; and I related the dream to him, saying,

There is a man in your kingdom in whom is a spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of your father, illumination, insight and wisdom like the wisdom of the gods were found in him. And King Nebuchadnezzar, your father, your father

the king, appointed him chief of the magicians, conjurers, Chaldeans and diviners.

distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.

Surely the Lord God does nothing

Unless He reveals His secret counsel
To His servants the prophets.
