There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
There also we saw the
Nephilim (the sons of Anak are part of the Nephilim); and we became like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
(It is also regarded as the land of the
Rephaim, for Rephaim formerly lived in it, but the Ammonites call them Zamzummin,
(For only Og king of Bashan was left of the remnant of the
Rephaim. Behold, his bedstead was an iron bedstead; it is in Rabbah of the sons of Ammon. Its length was nine cubits and its width four cubits by ordinary cubit.)
1 Samuel 17:4
Then a champion came out from the armies of the Philistines named
Goliath, from Gath, whose height was six cubits and a span.
2 Samuel 21:15
the Philistines were at war again with Israel, David went down and his servants with him; and as they fought against the Philistines, David became weary.
Then the Lord said, “
My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, because he also is flesh; nevertheless his days shall be one hundred and twenty years.”
They said, “Come, let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower whose top
will reach into heaven, and let us make for ourselves a name, otherwise we will be scattered abroad over the face of the whole earth.”
and they rose up before Moses,
together with some of the sons of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, chosen in the assembly, men of renown.
