And Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Abel, on his part also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of their fat portions. And the Lord had regard for Abel and for his offering;
appeared to Abram and said, “ To your descendants I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.
to the place of the
altar which he had made there formerly; and there Abram called on the name of the Lord.
Then they came to
the place of which God had told him; and Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood, and bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood.
So he built an

Then God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to
Bethel and live there, and make an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from your brother Esau.”
You shall make
an altar of earth for Me, and you shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your oxen; in every place where I cause My name to be remembered, I will come to you and bless you.
Moses wrote down all the words of the Lord. Then he arose early in the morning, and built an altar at the foot of the mountain with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel.
I urge you, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship.
We have an altar
from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat.

you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.
You shall take
with you of every clean animal by sevens, a male and his female; and of the animals that are not clean two, a male and his female;
