So the word of the Lord to them will be,
“Order on order, order on order,
Line on line, line on line,
A little here, a little there,”
That they may go and stumble backward, be broken, snared and taken captive.

“What more was there to do for My vineyard that I have not done in it?
Why, when I expected it to produce good grapes did it produce worthless ones?

“Now this is the commandment, the statutes and the judgments which the Lord your God has commanded me to teach you, that you might do them in the land where you are going over to possess it,

The Lord, the God of their fathers, sent word to them again and again by His messengers, because He had compassion on His people and on His dwelling place;

And admonished them in order to turn them back to Your law.
Yet they acted arrogantly and did not listen to Your commandments but sinned against Your ordinances,
By which if a man observes them he shall live.
And they

turned a stubborn shoulder and stiffened their neck, and would not listen.

For I solemnly warned your fathers in the day that I brought them up from the land of Egypt, even to this day,

warning persistently, saying, “Listen to My voice.”

“From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, even to this day, these twenty-three years the word of the Lord has come to me, and I have spoken to you

again and again, but you have not listened.

When the harvest time approached, he sent his slaves to the vine-growers to receive his produce.

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble to me, and it is a safeguard for you.

For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the

elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food.
