They say to the seers, "Don't see visions,' and to the prophets, "Don't give us visions of what is right! Instead, tell us welcome things, prophesy illusions,

You hate instruction and toss my words behind you.

"Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD;

The prophets prophesy falsely, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. But what will you do in the end?"

To whom will I speak and give a warning so they'll listen? Look, their ears are closed, and they cannot hear. Look, this message from the LORD is contemptible to them; they don't delight in it.

And this is the basis for judgment: The light has come into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light because their actions were evil.

so that what the prophet Isaiah spoke might be fulfilled when he said: "Lord, who has believed our message, and to whom has the Lord's power been revealed?"

Weaned

Instead, I have composed and quieted myself like a weaned child with its mother; I am like a weaned child.
