David took the spear and the water jar from beside Saul's head. Then he and Abishai left. No one saw it or knew what happened. No one woke up. They were all sound asleep, because Jehovah sent a heavy sleep on them all.

They do not know or understand anything. Their eyes are plastered shut and cannot see. Their minds are closed and therefore they cannot understand.

If a prophet is tricked into giving a prophecy, it is I, Jehovah, who tricked the prophet. I will use my power against you and destroy you from among my people Israel.

The god of this age (world) (religious, social, political, and economic arrangement) has blinded the minds of unbelievers that the light of the good news of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should not shine on them.

The evil (lawless) one will come with the power of Satan and perform all kinds of false signs and wonders.

Rulers

He will take their heroes and soldiers, judges and prophets, fortunetellers and statesmen,

I said: Please listen, you heads of Jacob, and rulers of the house of Israel: is it not your responsibility to know justice?
