Thou art

For you are our father, though Abraham does not know us and Israel does not recognize us. You, Lord, are our father; you have been called our protector from ancient times.
You must say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the Lord, "Israel is my son, my firstborn,
Is this how you repay the Lord, you foolish, unwise people? Is he not your father, your creator? He has made you and established you.
For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God through faith.

Are the clay

Your thinking is perverse! Should the potter be regarded as clay? Should the thing made say about its maker, "He didn't make me"? Or should the pottery say about the potter, "He doesn't understand"?
One who argues with his creator is in grave danger, one who is like a mere shard among the other shards on the ground! The clay should not say to the potter, "What in the world are you doing? Your work lacks skill!"
"Go down at once to the potter's house. I will speak to you further there."
But who indeed are you -- a mere human being -- to talk back to God? Does what is molded say to the molder, "Why have you made me like this?"

All are

everyone who belongs to me, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed -- yes, whom I made!
Remember these things, O Jacob, O Israel, for you are my servant. I formed you to be my servant; O Israel, I will not forget you!
"Your hands have shaped me and made me, but now you destroy me completely.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God! He made us and we belong to him; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
(Yod) Your hands made me and formed me. Give me understanding so that I might learn your commands.
The Lord avenges me. O Lord, your loyal love endures. Do not abandon those whom you have made!
For we are his workmanship, having been created in Christ Jesus for good works that God prepared beforehand so we may do them.

General references

"I, the Lord, say: 'O nation of Israel, can I not deal with you as this potter deals with the clay? In my hands, you, O nation of Israel, are just like the clay in this potter's hand.'
