And not only [this], but we rejoice also in afflictions, knowing that affliction works out patience,

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to [his] purpose.

For the light affliction which is for a moment, works out for us more abundantly an eternal weight of glory,

Patience

to those who by patience in good works seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life;

but if we hope for what we see not, we wait for it with patience.

For those things which were written before were written for our instruction, that through patience and the consolation of the Scriptures we may have hope.

being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious power, for all patience and long suffering with joy;

so that we boast of you in the churches of God, of your patience and faith, in all your persecutions and the afflictions which you endure,

And may the Lord direct your hearts in the love of God, and in the patience of Christ.

For you have need of patience, that having done the will of God you may receive the promise.

Therefore also we, having so great a cloud of witnesses lying around us, laying aside every impediment and sin which entirely surrounds us, let us run with patience the race set before us,

and to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience piety,
