Two Baskets Of Figs

1 Jehovah showed me, and behold, two baskets of figs set before the face of the temple of Jehovah, after Nebuchadnezzar king of Babel carried away captive Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the chiefs of Judah and the artificers, and the smiths, from Jerusalem, and he will bring them to Babel

1 The LORD shewed me, and, behold, two baskets of figs were set before the temple of the LORD, after that Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, and the princes of Judah, with the carpenters and smiths, from Jerusalem, and had brought them to Babylon.

1 After (A)Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had carried away captive Jeconiah the son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah, and the officials of Judah with the craftsmen and smiths from Jerusalem and had brought them to Babylon, the Lord showed me: behold, two (B)baskets of figs set before the temple of the Lord!

1 After Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon had deported Jeconiah(a) son of Jehoiakim king of Judah, the officials of Judah, and the craftsmen and metalsmiths(A) from Jerusalem and had brought them to Babylon, the Lord showed me two baskets of figs(B) placed before the temple of the Lord.

1 After Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, had taken Jehoiakim's son Jeconiah, king of Judah, along with the officials of Judah, the craftsmen, and the smiths from Jerusalem into exile, and had brought them to Babylon, the LORD showed me two baskets of figs placed right in front of the Temple of the LORD.

2 One basket of figs exceedingly good as the figs first ripe, and the one basket of figs exceedingly evil, which shall not be eaten from being evil.

2 One basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are first ripe: and the other basket had very naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.

2 One basket had very good figs, like (C)first-ripe figs, and the other basket had (D)very bad figs which could not be eaten due to rottenness.

2 One basket contained very good figs, like early figs,(C) but the other basket contained very bad figs, so bad they were inedible.

2 One basket contained very good figs like the first figs that ripen on the tree. The other basket contained very bad figs that were too bad to be eaten.

3 And Jehovah will say to me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? and saying, Figs: the good figs, exceedingly good; and the evil, exceedingly evil, which shall not be eaten from being evil.

3 Then said the LORD unto me, What seest thou, Jeremiah? And I said, Figs; the good figs, very good; and the evil, very evil, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.

3 Then the Lord said to me, “(E)What do you see, Jeremiah?” And I said, “Figs, the good figs, very good; and the bad figs, very bad, which cannot be eaten due to rottenness.”

3 The Lord said to me, “What do you see, Jeremiah?” I said, “Figs! The good figs are very good, but the bad figs are extremely bad, so bad they are inedible.”

3 The LORD told me, "What do you see?" I replied, "Figs. The good figs are very good, and the bad figs are very bad. They're too bad to be eaten."

4 And the word of Jehovah will be to me, saying,

4 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

4 Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying,

4 The word of the Lord came to me:

4 Then this message from the LORD came to me:

5 Thus said Jehovah, God of Israel: As these good figs, so will I know the captivity of Judah which I sent out of this place to the land of the Chaldeans for good.

5 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.

5 “Thus says the Lord God of Israel, ‘Like these good figs, so I will regard (F)as good the captives of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans.

5 “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: Like these good figs, so I regard as good the exiles from Judah I sent away from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

5 "This is what the LORD God of Israel says: "Like these good figs, so I'll regard as good the exiles of Judah whom I sent from this place to the land of the Chaldeans.

6 And I set mine eyes upon them for good, and I turned them back upon this land: and I built them, and I will not pull down: and I planted them, and I will not pluck up.

6 For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.

6 For I will set My eyes on them for good, and I will (G)bring them again to this land; and I will (H)build them up and not overthrow them, and I will (I)plant them and not pluck them up.

6 I will keep My eyes on them for their good and will return them to this land. I will build them up and not demolish them; I will plant them and not uproot them.(D)

6 I'll look at them with good intentions, and I'll bring them back to this land. I'll build them up. I won't tear them down; I'll plant them and not rip them up.

7 And I gave to them a heart to know me, that I am Jehovah: and they were to me for a people, and I will be to them for God: for they shall turn back to me with all their heart

7 And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.

7 I will give them a (J)heart to know Me, for I am the Lord; and they will be (K)My people, and I will be their God, for they will (L)return to Me with their whole heart.

7 I will give them a heart to know Me,(E) that I am Yahweh. They will be My people, and I will be their God because they will return to Me with all their heart.(F)

7 I'll give them the ability to know me, for I am the LORD. They will be my people, and I will be their God when they return to me with all their heart.

8 And as the evil figs which shall not be eaten from being evil; for thus said Jehovah, So will I give Zedekiah king of Judah, and his chiefs, and the remainder of Jerusalem, those remaining in this land, and those dwelling in the land of Egypt:

8 And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:

8 ‘But like the (M)bad figs which cannot be eaten due to rottenness—indeed, thus says the Lord—so I will (a)abandon (N)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials, and the (O)remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land and the ones who dwell in the land of (P)Egypt.

8 “But as for the bad figs, so bad they are inedible,(G) this is what the Lord says: in this way I will deal with king Zedekiah of Judah, his officials, and the remnant of Jerusalem—those remaining in this land and those living in the land of Egypt.(H)

8 ""Like the bad figs that are too bad to be eaten for this is what the LORD says so I'll give up on Zedekiah king of Judah, along with his officials, the remnant of Jerusalem that is left in this land, and those living in the land of Egypt.

9 And I gave them for maltreatment, and for evil to all the kingdoms of the earth, for a reproach and for a parable, and for a derision, and for a curse in, all the places which I shall thrust them away there.

9 And I will deliver them to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth for their hurt, to be a reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a curse, in all places whither I shall drive them.

9 I will (Q)make them a terror and an evil for all the kingdoms of the earth, as a (R)reproach and a proverb, a taunt and a (S)curse in all places where I will scatter them.

9 I will make them an object of horror(I) and disaster to all the kingdoms of the earth, a disgrace, an object of scorn, ridicule,(J) and cursing, wherever I have banished them.

9 I'll make them into a horrifying sight to all the kingdoms of the earth; into a cause for contempt, into a byword, into a taunt, and into a curse in all the places to which I drive them.

10 And I sent among them the sword, the famine, and the death, even to the consuming them from off the land which I gave to them and to their fathers.

10 And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.

10 I will send the (T)sword, the famine and the pestilence upon them until they are destroyed from the land which I gave to them and their forefathers.’”

10 I will send the sword, famine, and plague(K) against them until they have perished from the land I gave to them and their ancestors.”

10 I'll send the sword, famine, and plague against them until they're completely destroyed from the land which I gave them and their ancestors.'"
