Our ancestors were unfaithful and did what Jehovah our God considered evil. They deserted him. They turned away from Jehovah's tent and turned their backs on him.

King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, son of Amoz, prayed about this and called to heaven.

On behalf of those who are left in Israel and Judah and me, ask Jehovah about the words in this book that was found. Jehovah's fierce anger has been poured on us because our ancestors did not obey the word of Jehovah by doing everything written in this book.

King Hezekiah heard it and he tore his clothes. He covered himself with sackcloth and entered the house of Jehovah.

Perhaps the people will listen and give up their evil ways. If they do I will change my mind about the destruction I plan to bring on them for all their wicked deeds.

So Jehovah changed his mind and did not bring disaster on his people as he threatened.

When the angel stretched out his arm to destroy Jerusalem, Jehovah changed his mind about the disaster. Enough! He said to the angel who was destroying the people. Put down your weapon. The angel of Jehovah was at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

But if you put me to death, you and everyone else in Jerusalem will be guilty of murdering an innocent man. This is because everything I spoke came from Jehovah.

The incense burners of these men who sinned and lost their lives are holy, because they were offered to Jehovah. Hammer them into thin metal sheets to cover the altar. This will be a sign to the Israelites.

If you did this, you would defile the land where you are living. Murder defiles the land, and except by the death of the murderer there is no way to perform the ritual of purification for the land where someone has been murdered.

Behold! Jehovah is coming out of his dwelling to punish the people of the earth for their sins. The earth will disclose (reveal) the bloodshed upon her. She will conceal her slain no longer.

It is because of the sins of her prophets and the evil doing of her priests. They have drained the blood of the upright out from her.

You are responsible for all the righteous blood shed on earth. That includes the blood of the righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, whom you killed between the sanctuary and the altar.

Pilate saw that he could do nothing. The people were ready to cause much trouble. He took water and washed his hands in front of the people. He said: The blood of this man is not on my hands. You are responsible.

John reproved Herod the tetrarch for all the evil things he had done for he took his brother Herodias' wife.

But if it is from God, you cannot overthrow it; otherwise you may find yourselves fighting against God.

When the Lamb opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the persons who were slaughtered because of the word of God, and for the witness they gave.

They have shed the blood of the holy ones and prophets. You give them blood to drink for they deserve it.

Rejoice over her, you heaven, and you holy apostles and prophets, for God pronounced judgment for you against her.
