And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Wherefore doeth the LORD our God all these things unto us? then shalt thou answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me, and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

Wherefore

After all this you say: 'I am innocent. God will turn his anger from me. For I have not sinned.'

If you ask yourself: 'Why do these things happen to me?' It is because you have so many sins. Your clothes have been torn off and your limbs are bare.

When you tell the people all these things, they will ask you: 'Why does Jehovah threaten us with all these disasters? What have we done wrong? How have we sinned against Jehovah our God?'

Many nations will pass by this city. They will say to one another: Why has Jehovah done thus to this great city?

All the nations will say: Why has Jehovah done thus to this land? Why this great outburst of anger?'

This house will become a mass of broken walls. Everyone who goes by will be overcome with wonder at it and make whistling sounds. They will say: Why has Jehovah done this to this land and to this house?

Everyone passing by this impressive Temple will be appalled. They will ask: Why did Jehovah do these things to this land and to this Temple?

Like as

My people have done two things wrong: (l) They have abandoned me, the fountain (source) of living waters. They have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water. (Revelation 4:11)

When you have children, and grandchildren, and you have remained in the land a long time do not corrupt yourselves. If you make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and do evil in the sight of Jehovah your God, you will provoke him to anger:

You did not serve Jehovah your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all things.

Servants rule over us, and there is no one to free us from their hands.
