When I am lifted up from the earth I will draw all men to myself.

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must also be lifted up.

Jesus said: When you have lifted up (impaled) the Son of man you will know that I am that person. I do nothing by myself! I speak what the Father taught me!

No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him. I will resurrect him (raise him up) in the last day.

We see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels and crowned with glory and honor for suffering death. By the grace of God he tasted death for every man.

He gave himself as a ransom for all. A witness was to be given at the right time.

He is the propitiation (Greek: hilasmos: atonement, compensation) for our sins. Not for ours only, but also for the whole world.

I led them with cords of human kindness, with ties of love. I lifted the yoke from their neck and bent down to feed them.

He came to tell (witness) (testify) about the light and help people have faith.

It was by the transgression of the one that death ruled as king through that one. Even more so shall those who receive the abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, rule as kings in life by the one, Jesus Christ.

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. It is written; Cursed is everyone who is hung on a stake.

He bore our sins in his body upon the stake, that we, having died to sins, might live to righteousness. You were healed because of his wounds (stripes).

If a man commits a sin worthy of death and he is put to death. You hang him on a tree (stake).

Absalom happened to come face to face with some of David's men. He was riding on a mule. The mule went under the tangled branches of a large tree. Absalom's head became caught in the tree. He was left hanging in midair when the mule under him ran away.

Dogs have surrounded me. A mob has encircled me. They have pierced my hands and feet.

Draw me away. (Daughters of Jerusalem) We will run after you. (The Shulamite) The king brought me into his chambers. (Daughters of Jerusalem) We will be glad and rejoice in you. We will remember your love more than wine! (The Shulamite) They are right to love you.

He says: It is a small thing that you are my servant. You will raise up the tribes of Jacob and restore the preserved ones of Israel. I will also make you a light to the nations that my salvation will reach to the end of the earth.

The crowd answered him: We have heard from the law that the Christ lives forever. Why do you say the Son of man must be lifted up? Who is this Son of man?

They took Jesus bearing his own stake to the place called the place of a skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha.

Because Christ also suffered for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God. He was put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit.

They sing a new song, saying: You are worthy to take the book, and to open the seals, for you were slaughtered and by your blood you bought persons for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation.
