Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world.
She was pregnant, and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth.
Now when Elizabeth was due to deliver, she gave birth to a son.
For it is written [Isa. 40:1], "[Woman] you should be happy that you have not had children. Cry over your inability to experience the pain of childbirth. For the deserted woman has had more children than the one with a husband."
