But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
There is Another who testifies about Me, and I know that the testimony He gives about Me is valid.
1 John 5:9
If we accept the testimony of men, God’s testimony
is greater, because it is God’s testimony that He has given about His Son.
This man came to Him at night and said, “Rabbi,
we know that You have come from God as a teacher, for no one could perform these signs You do unless God were with him.”
“This is an amazing thing,” the man told them. “You don’t know where He is from, yet He opened my eyes!
“I did tell you and you don’t believe,” Jesus answered them. “The works that I do in My Father’s name testify about Me.
But some of them said, “Couldn’t He who opened the blind man’s eyes
also have kept this man from dying?”
Don’t you believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me? The words I speak to you I do not speak on My own. The Father who lives in Me does His works.
If I had not done the works among them that no one else has done, they would not have sin. Now they have seen and hated both Me and My Father.
I have glorified You on the earth by completing the work You gave Me to do.
“Men of Israel, listen to these words: This Jesus the Nazarene was a man pointed out to you by God with miracles, wonders, and signs that God did among you through Him, just as you yourselves know.
Jesus replied to them,
“Go and report to John what you hear and see:
Before He came to public attention,
John had previously proclaimed a baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel.
