John 9:28

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

They answered and said to him, You were born entirely in sins, and do you teach us? And they cast him without.

The Pharisees answered them, Are you also deceived?

Blessed are you when they shall reproach you, and persecute you, and say every evil against you, falsely, for my sake.

And those who went by blasphemed him, wagging their heads,

and labor, working with our hands; being reviled we bless, being persecuted we endure,

nor thieves, nor covetous persons, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor the rapacious, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

who being reviled reviled not, suffering threatened not, but committed himself to him that judges righteously,

Think not that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one that accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust.

Did not Moses give you the law? and no one of you performs the law. Why do you seek to kill me?

Then they bribed men who said, We heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.

But [what] if you are called a Jew and rest on the law, and boast of God,

and all were baptized to Moses by the cloud and by the sea,
