Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.
Now the people came up from the Jordan on the
tenth of the first month and camped at Gilgal on the eastern edge of Jericho.
So Joshua and all Israel with him returned to the camp at Gilgal.
from the tribe of Judah,
Caleb the son of Jephunneh;
Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, of those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes;
Therefore, Hebron became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite until this day, because he followed the Lord God of Israel fully.
Othniel the son of Kenaz, the brother of Caleb, captured it; so he gave him Achsah his daughter as a wife.
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua the son of Nun,
for they have followed the Lord fully.’
But My servant Caleb,
because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.
except Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and
to him and to his sons I will give the land on which he has set foot, because he has followed the Lord fully.’
Then Caleb quieted the people
before Moses and said, “We should by all means go up and take possession of it, for we will surely overcome it.”
But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh remained alive out of those men who went to spy out the land.
This is what your fathers did when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
