he that hath received my commandments, and keeps them, he it is that loves me: and he that loves me, shall be beloved by my father, and I will love him, and shew my self unto him.

as the father has loved me, and I have loved you: so do you persevere in your love to me.

who upon his arrival there, was glad to see such effects of the divine grace, and exhorted them all to remain firmly attach'd to the christian profession:

and we have known, and are convinced that God hath loved us. God is love; and he that cultivates social affection, dwelleth in God, and God in him.

we know that a true christian will not commit such a sin, for he that is the child of God keeps upon his guard, so that the wicked spirit does not approach him.

they overcame him by the blood of the lamb, and by the word to which they gave testimony; for their lives they expos'd to the last.

The mercy

the law indeed was delivered by Moses, but grace and truth was the dispensation of Jesus Christ.

to Timothy my sincere convert, favour, mercy and peace from God our father, and Jesus Christ our Lord.

to Timothy, my dear son, grace, mercy and peace from God the father, and from Jesus Christ our Lord.

Unto

that as sin prevailed unto death, even so might the divine favour prevail by righteousness unto eternal life, thro' Jesus Christ our Lord.

for the wages of sin is death: but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

he that believeth on the son of God, hath the testimony of God thereto: he that does not believe God, impeaches his veracity, because he does not believe the testimony that God gave of his son.
