Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
And this shall be an everlasting statute unto you, to make an atonement for the children of Israel for all their sins once a year. And he did as the LORD commanded Moses.
You shall do no work at all. It is to be a perpetual statute throughout your generations in all your dwelling places.
the tenth day of this seventh month you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall humble yourselves; you shall not do any work.
Once a year
make atonement on its horns once a year; he shall make atonement on it with the blood of the sin offering of atonement once a year throughout your generations. It is most holy to the Lord.”
the second, only the high priest enters once a year, not without taking blood, which he offers for himself and for the sins of the people committed in ignorance.
in those sacrifices there is a reminder of sins year by year.
You shall not do any work on this same day, for it is a
day of atonement, to make atonement on your behalf before the Lord your God.
