1 Command the sons of Israel, That they bring unto thee - pure oil olive, beaten, for giving light, - to cause the lamp to burn up continually.

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

1 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

1 The Lord spoke to Moses:

1 The LORD spoke to Moses,

2 Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, shall Aaron order it, from evening until morning, before Yahweh continually, - a statute age-abiding, to your generations.

2 Command the children of Israel, that they bring unto thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamps to burn continually.

2 “Command the sons of Israel that they bring to you ()clear oil from beaten olives for the ()light, to make a lamp ()burn continually.

2 “Command the Israelites to bring you pure oil from crushed olives for the light, in order to keep the lamp burning continually.()

2 "Tell the Israelis that they are to bring to you pure oil made from beaten olives in order to keep the lamp burning continuously.

3 Upon the pure lampstand, shall he order the lamps, - before Yahweh, continually.

3 Without the vail of the testimony, in the tabernacle of the congregation, shall Aaron order it from the evening unto the morning before the LORD continually: it shall be a statute for ever in your generations.

3 Outside the veil of testimony in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the Lord continually; it shall be a perpetual statute throughout your generations.

3 Aaron is to tend it continually from evening until morning before the Lord outside the veil() of the testimony() in the tent of meeting. This is a permanent statute throughout your generations.

3 Outside the Canopy of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to arrange it continually in the LORD's presence from evening until morning as an eternal ordinance throughout your generations.

Bread For The Tabernacle

4 And thou shalt take fine meal, and bake it, in twelve cakes, - of two-tenths, shall each cake be.

4 He shall order the lamps upon the pure candlestick before the LORD continually.

4 He shall keep the lamps in order on the ()pure gold lampstand before the Lord continually.

4 He must continually tend the lamps on the pure gold lampstand in the Lord’s presence.()

4 He is to arrange the lamps so that they burn continuously on a ceremonially pure lamp stand in the LORD's presence.

5 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six in a row, - upon the pure table, before Yahweh.

5 And thou shalt take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes thereof: two tenth deals shall be in one cake.

5 ()Then you shall take fine flour and bake twelve cakes with it; two-tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake.

5 “Take fine flour and bake it into 12 loaves;() each loaf is to be made with four quarts.()

5 Take fine flour and bake twelve cakes using two tenths of a measure for each cake.

6 And thou shalt put upon each row pure frankincense, - so shall it belong unto the bread as a memorial, an altar-flame unto Yahweh.

6 And thou shalt set them in two rows, six on a row, upon the pure table before the LORD.

6 You shall set them in two rows, six to a row, on the ()pure gold table before the Lord.

6 Arrange them in two rows, six to a row, on the pure gold table() before the Lord.

6 Arrange them in two rows six in each row on a ceremonially pure table in the LORD's presence.

7 Sabbath day by sabbath day, shall he order it before Yahweh continually, - from the sons of Israel as an age-abiding covenant:

7 And thou shalt put pure frankincense upon each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, even an offering made by fire unto the LORD.

7 You shall put pure frankincense on each row that it may be ()a memorial portion for the bread, even an offering by fire to the Lord.

7 Place pure frankincense() near each row, so that it may serve as a memorial portion() for the bread and a fire offering() to the Lord.

7 Put pure frankincense on each row for a memorial offering. It will serve as an offering made by fire to the LORD.

8 so shall it be for Aaron and for his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, - for most holy, shall it be unto him from among the altar-flames of Yahweh, a statute age-abiding.

8 Every sabbath he shall set it in order before the LORD continually, being taken from the children of Israel by an everlasting covenant.

8 ()Every sabbath day he shall set it in order before the Lord ()continually; it is an everlasting covenant ()for the sons of Israel.

8 The bread is to be set out before the Lord every Sabbath day as a perpetual covenant() obligation on the part of the Israelites.

8 They are to be arranged every Sabbath day in the LORD's presence as a gift from the Israelis an eternal covenant.

Punishment For Blasphemy

9 And forth went the son of a woman of Israel - he being the son of a man of Egypt - in the midst of the sons of Israel;

9 And it shall be Aaron's and his sons'; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.

9 ()It shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place; for it is most holy to him from the Lord’s offerings by fire, his portion forever.”

9 It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place, for it is the holiest portion for him from the fire offerings to the Lord; this is a permanent rule.”

9 This gift will belong to Aaron and his sons, and they are to eat it in a sacred place, because it's the most holy thing for him of all the offerings made by fire to the LORD. This is to be an eternal ordinance."

10 and the son of the woman of Israel, and a man of Israel, reviled one another in the camp. And the son of the Israelitish woman uttered contemptuously the Name, and reviled. So they brought him in unto Moses, - now, the name of his mother, was Shelomith, daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan;

10 And the son of an Israelitish woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the children of Israel: and this son of the Israelitish woman and a man of Israel strove together in the camp;

10 Now the son of an Israelite woman, whose father was an Egyptian, went out among the sons of Israel; and the Israelite woman’s son and a man of Israel struggled with each other in the camp.

10 Now the son of an Israelite mother and an Egyptian father was() among the Israelites. A fight broke out in the camp between the Israelite woman’s son and an Israelite man.

10 Now a son of an Israeli woman and an Egyptian man went out among the Israelis. The Israeli woman's son got into a fight with an Israeli man in the camp.

An Example Of Just And Fair Punishment

11 and they put him in ward, - that a clear answer might be given to them at the mouth of Yahweh.

11 And the Israelitish woman's son blasphemed the name of the LORD, and cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan:)

11 The son of the Israelite woman blasphemed the ()Name and cursed. So they brought him to Moses. (Now his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of Dan.)

11 Her son cursed and blasphemed the Name,() and they brought him to Moses. (His mother’s name was Shelomith, a daughter of Dibri of the tribe of Dan.())

11 Then the Israeli woman's son blasphemed the Name and cursed, so they brought him to Moses. His mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, from the tribe of Dan.

12 Bring forth him that reviled unto the out-side of the camp, then shall all that heard him lean their hands upon his head, - and all the assembly shall stone him.

12 And they put him in ward, that the mind of the LORD might be shewed them.

12 They put him in ()custody ()so that ()the command of the Lord might be made clear to them.

12 They put him in custody() until the Lord’s decision() could be made clear to them.

12 They placed him in custody until a decision would be made to them according to the word of the LORD.

13 And, unto the sons of Israel, shalt thou speak saying, - What man soever curseth his God shall bear his sin.

13 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

13 Then the Lord spoke to Moses:

13 Then the LORD spoke to Moses,

14 And, he that contemptuously uttereth the name of Yahweh, shall be, surely put to death, all the assembly shall, surely stone, him, - as the sojourner so the home-born, when he contemptuously-uttereth the Name, he shall be put to death.

14 Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.

14 “Bring the one who has cursed outside the camp, and let all who heard him ()lay their hands on his head; then ()let all the congregation stone him.

14 “Bring the one who has cursed to the outside of the camp and have all who heard him lay their hands on his head; then have the whole community stone him.()

14 "Take the one who cursed outside the camp. Everyone who heard him is to lay their hands on his head. Then the entire congregation is to stone him to death.

An Eye For An Eye

15 And, when, any man, by smiting taketh the life of any human being, he shall be surely put to death,

15 And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying, Whosoever curseth his God shall bear his sin.

15 You shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘()If anyone curses his God, then he will bear his sin.

15 And tell the Israelites: If anyone curses his God, he will bear the consequences of his sin.

15 Moreover, tell the Israelis that anyone who curses his God will bear the consequences of his own sin,

16 And he that by smiting taketh away the life of a beast, shall make it good, - life for life.

16 And he that blasphemeth the name of the LORD, he shall surely be put to death, and all the congregation shall certainly stone him: as well the stranger, as he that is born in the land, when he blasphemeth the name of the LORD, shall be put to death.

16 Moreover, the one who ()blasphemes the name of the Lord shall surely be put to death; all the congregation shall certainly stone him. The alien as well as the native, when he blasphemes the Name, shall be put to death.

16 Whoever blasphemes the name of Yahweh is to be put to death;() the whole community must stone him. If he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death, whether the foreign resident or the native.

16 because the one who blasphemes the name of the LORD is certainly to be put to death. The entire congregation is to stone him to death. As it is for the resident alien, so it is to be with the native born: when he blasphemes the Name, he is to be put to death.

17 And, when, any man, inflicteth a blemish upon his neighbour, as he hath done, so, shall it be done to him:

17 And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death.

17 ()If a man ()takes the life of any human being, he shall surely be put to death.

17 “If a man kills anyone, he must be put to death.()

17 "If a man beats a human being to death, he is certainly to be executed,

18 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, as he inflicteth a blemish upon a human being, so, shall one be inflicted upon him.

18 And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.

18 ()The one who ()takes the life of an animal shall make it good, life for life.

18 Whoever kills an animal is to make restitution for it, life for life.

18 but whoever beats an animal to death is to replace it life for life.

19 And he that killeth a beast, shall make it good,-and he that killeth a human being, shall be put to death.

19 And if a man cause a blemish in his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;

19 If a man ()injures his neighbor, just as he has done, so it shall be done to him:

19 If any man inflicts a permanent injury on his neighbor, whatever he has done is to be done to him:

19 If a man disfigures his fellow, whatever he did is to be done to him also.

20 One rule, shall ye have, as the sojourner, so the home-born, shall be, - For, I - Yahweh, am your God.

20 Breach for breach, eye for eye, tooth for tooth: as he hath caused a blemish in a man, so shall it be done to him again.

20 ()fracture for fracture, ()eye for eye, tooth for tooth; just as he has ()injured a man, so it shall be ()inflicted on him.

20 fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth. Whatever injury he inflicted on the person, the same is to be inflicted on him.()

20 Fracture for fracture, eye for eye, tooth for tooth just as he had caused a disfigurement against another man, so it is to be done against him.

21 So then Moses spake unto the sons of Israel, and they took forth the reviler, unto the outside of the camp, and stoned him with stones. Thus, the sons of Israel did, as Yahweh commanded Moses.

21 And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.

21 Thus the one who ()kills an animal shall make it good, but ()the one who ()kills a man shall be put to death.

21 Whoever kills an animal is to make restitution for it, but whoever kills a person is to be put to death.()

21 Whoever beats an animal to death is to replace it, but whoever beats a human being to death is to be put to death.
