And when they had brought their boats to shore, they left everything and followed Jesus.

They immediately left their nets and went with Him.

Peter then answered Him, "Look, we have left everything [i.e., homes, jobs, family, etc.], to follow you. What will we get for it?"

So, Matthew gave up everything, got up and followed Jesus.

The person who loves his father and mother more than me does not deserve me [i.e., to be my disciple]. And the person who loves his son or daughter more than me does not deserve me [i.e., to be my disciple].

So, they left their nets immediately and became His followers.

And Jesus looked at him, and filled with love, said to him, "There is one thing you [still] lack. Go and sell your possessions and give [the money] to poor people; become my follower, then you will have treasure in heaven."

Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, no one who has left his house, or brothers, or sisters, or mother, or father, or children or property for my sake and the Gospel's sake [i.e., to become a servant of the Lord],

Then Peter said, "Look, we have left our homes to follow you."

However, those things which were [once regarded as] gain to me, I have [now] considered to be loss for [the sake of] Christ.
