Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen.
One of His
disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, *said to Him,
and so also were
James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “ Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.”
Going on from there He saw two other brothers,
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them.
Going on a little farther, He saw
James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets.
And He allowed no one to accompany Him, except
Peter and James and John the brother of James.
Six days later, Jesus *took with Him Peter and James and John, and *brought them up on a high mountain by themselves. And He was transfigured before them;
And He *took with Him Peter and
James and John, and began to be very distressed and troubled.
Peter, turning around, *saw the
disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?”
had James the brother of John put to death with a sword.
And He *went up on
the mountain and * summoned those whom He Himself wanted, and they came to Him.
