And he that received the seed among the thorns, is one that likewise heareth the word; but the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches choketh the word, and so it becometh unfruitful.

And He said unto them, See to it that ye beware of covetousness; for a man's life consisteth not in the abundance of his possessions.

For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, (who is an idolater,) hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.

But they, that will be rich, fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which plunge men into ruin and perdition.

Love not the world, nor the things that are in the world; for if any one love the world to excess, the love of the Father is not in him.
