The voice of one crying in the wilderness, prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight."

and saying, "Repent ye: for the kingdom of the Messiah draws nigh."

from that time Jesus began to preach, "Repent, said he, for the kingdom of the Messiah draws nigh."

go then and learn the meaning of that expression, "I will have mercy and not sacrifice:" for I am not come to call saints, but sinners.

Then he began to upbraid the towns where most of his miracles were wrought, for their not being converts.

the people of Nineve shall rise up in the day of Judgment, and shall condemn it: for they repented at the preaching of Jonas; but now, a greater than Jonas is here.

I tell you, no: and except you repent, you shall all likewise perish.

I tell you, that there shall likewise be greater joy in heaven for one sinner that repents, than for ninety nine just persons, that need no repentance.

and that repentance and remission of sins should be preach'd in his name, among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

Peter replied, repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the holy spirit.

repent therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshment shall come from the presence of the Lord, who shall send Jesus Christ,

Having heard this, they were appeas'd, and glorified God, saying, God has then granted salvation likewise to the gentiles, on the terms of their repentance.

remonstrating both to Jews and Gentiles the advantages of a sincere repentance, and of believing

first I warn'd the people of Damascus, of Jerusalem, of all Judea, and then the Gentiles, to repent, and turn to God, by acting suitably to their repentance.

now I rejoice, not at your uneasiness, but at your repentance which succeeded: for your sorrow was a religious sorrow, such as convinc'd you I had done you no wrong.

with great temper and meekness informing those, who differ in opinion; because he does not know, but God may change their minds, by convincing them of the truth.
